PRE-REQUISITES:
Participants in this course MUST
1) Hold a current ABLS Provider Certification (Live Course); and have been certified for at least 1-year as an ABLS Provider (must provide copy of certificate)
2) Maintain current membership with the American Burn Association (ABA)
3) Have at least 3-years of burn care experience, working with a burn center
4) Must be a Physician, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Nurse, or Paramedic.

The (ABLS) Instructor Course is a course for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and paramedics interested in becoming instructors for the ABLS program. This live, hands-on course is designed to "teach-how-to-teach" with a particular focus on advanced burn life support provider materials. Following a lecture from our cadre of National Educators, students will each present a portion of an ABLS provider lecture to the class, lead case studies, and run a simulated burn patient scenario to reinforce the assessment, stabilization, and the American Burn Association transfer criteria to a Burn Center. Testing consists of practical assessments of the instructor candidate's performance throughout the day.

Course Objectives: This course is designed to teach the Instructor Candidate "how to teach" the ABLS Provider course. The instructor course focuses on how to properly maintain standardized instruction of the ABLS curriculum (Lectures, Case Studies, Practical Assessments, and Written Assessments), addresses common teaching pitfalls, and helps the instructor candidate understand the education of adult learners.

CME Credit: The ABA designates this continuing medical education activity for up to 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ of the Physician’s Recognition Award of the American Medical Association. This program also has been approved by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) for 5 contact hours Synergy CERP Category A, File number 00018611.

Course Information: The course is limited to participants and based on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration fee is $375.00 for all registrants. Lunch will be on your own.

No refunds or rescheduling for unexpected no-shows or cancellations less than fourteen (14) days prior to course.
